ALI CURRIE TAKES ON THE REBELLE RALLY - STAGE 3

REBELLE RALLY - STAGE 3

It was a shorter distance but this time the teams would see the most available checkpoints on the rally at 23. Stage 3 began with a precision enduro right at Basecamp. The teams had a couple of sketchy mountainous obstacles they had to work their way through. Climbing and descending rock sections while trying to stay on time.

From there they had 5 checkpoints with two of them having optional waypoints to hit. This led into the days second enduro. A zig-zagging route that tested the drivers at maintaining their speed while navigating tight 90 degree corners.

After this they would refuel before tackling the majority of the checkpoints. With 7 optional routes there was major risk vs reward opportunities to be had. Ali and Keri had a planned route for the day to maximize sure points at blue and green checkpoints. Trying to avoid running late to checkpoints in the end like the last stage. They would hit a majority of the blue checkpoints and all of the green checkpoints but would have to forfeit up a few optional points in order to be back into basecamp before the 5:30pm cutoff time.

We started Stage 3 with a precision enduro that was a ton of fun. We got to put the jeep to work! This morning we plotted our route and came up with a plan to hit certain checkpoints, there was a lot of decisions that my team as well as other competitors had to make. Like whether or not to go for a point worth 5 points that could take us an hour to get or go for a main checkpoint before it times out. We are making our way through and learning so much as we go. The navigation has been tough for us, but I’m having a blast driving every day and learning new techniques in different terrains.

They still sit 15th overall entering into Stage 4 of the rally which is a marathon stage. The teams will leave Ridgecrest and make their ways through Death Valley in route to Dumont Sand dunes. They will be restricted to whatever they brought with them, no outside food service or amenities will be available until after Stage 5.
